Deaf and hard of hearing students in the classroom
This video on deaf and hard of hearing students describes some of the challenges that they experience in school. It guides teachers in how to accommodate their needs so they can learn in school. It explains why deaf and hard of hearing students still need these accommodations even if they wear a hearing aid or cochlear implant.
The video is a good introduction to the needs of students who benefit from hearing aids or cochlear implants and can lip read moderately well. It should be supplemented with more information about students who use sign language and other accommodations that do not rely on lip reading.
The video is in spoken English with closed captions in English. We could not assess if the video also has audio description for people who cannot see well. However, most of the visual content does not communicate important information.
